Mini Comic Almost Done

Pencils almost done for the whole comic!

The mini comic I mentioned last post was reworked into Skrunkly the Rock ’n Roll Devil, as I felt like he’s a character that resonates more with me. Like, think of how early rock ‘n roll was feared as devil worship by folks who didn’t understand it. Then imagine that those little devils were real, but they were just pokin’ people with their little pitchfork to make them dance, then having a good old time. Skrunkly’s kind of like one of those guys. More just cute. I’ve drawn 12 out of 16 panels for that section, then I need to whip up a cover.

What do people put on inside covers?

I might just hand-write a credits page or draw little doodles of fake companies or something. Seriously though, a comic without the inside cover printed just looks wrong. So I stil need to figure that out.

Might draft some concepts for the comic cover tomorrow, as it’s been a bit of a sticking point that’s slowing me down. I’m going to have to HAUL on those inks though, cause I’ve only got 10 days left and haven’t put a drop of ink down on the paper yet.

How can you do a comic book cover when there’s very little action?

Like, the amount of action in this comic book is much closer to something like Garfield or Dilbert than an old Marvel comic or even an Archie … what do people do in this situation? Tempting to just draw the characters wearing bunny slippers and holding a large coffee like on the covers of those old Garfield Fat Cat Three Packs, but it wouldn’t suit the name ‘Super Chairface’. So I gotta think of something that would look good. Maybe the three characters swinging toward the cover or playing a show or hanging out in a jam space with guitars on the wall and stuff. I dunno. Still need to think about it.
