Doodling some boards

Kay, here’s the thing about making comics that I never got around to. Like … you can finish them? That’s been kind of blowing my mind the last few days. You actually don’t have to just finish penciling in an idea, then take the comic and put it in a drawer for 12 years. You can just … finish it.

Drew 2 of the remaining pages this evening (page 24 and 25) so we’ve just got 26, 27, and 28 left. Once that’s done, I’ll draw the 4 pages of Spanky comics, then revise the pencils.

I’ve been watching some videos of people who draw and ink real comics, and while this doodly mess is obviously nowhere near the same sort of work, there’s a workflow that is interesting to me. Tidying up the pencils so things are more distinct before getting into ink seems like a really good way to sort out the ‘what the heck is that’ moments that usually happen when I’d ink stuff with sharpie, back when I’d draw band posters and stuff. So just taking a bit more time with one extra pencil step could make inking that much easier.

Stuff’s starting to arrive

Some of my supplies arrived today, and more are due to arrive tomorrow. Got a couple pens and some erasers (including one of those squishy art erasers, I’ve heard those are good for dimming your pencils before inking). Will grab a photo of them once everything’s arrived. Wish me luck!
